Scheherazade
This event will take place Saturday, April 15.
A troika of Russian composers concludes Sinfonia da Camera's 33rd season in grand style! The performance begins with the Pulcinella Suite of Igor Stravinsky, a 20th-century twist on music by Baroque composer Giovanni Pergolesi. Sinfonia is then joined once again by former Pittsburgh Symphony concertmaster Andrés Cárdenes who performs the Violin Concerto of Alexander Glazunov and leads the Sinfonia strings in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's exquisite symphonic poem Scheherazade, which evocatively depicts a thousand and one nights of Eastern-tinged fantasy.
Stravinsky: Pulcinella Suite
Glazunov: Violin Concerto, Op. 82
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade
This performance will last approximately one hour and 44 minutes, and includes a 20-minute intermission.
