Minnesota Orchestra
One of America’s top symphonic ensembles, the Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra enjoys a distinguished history of acclaimed performances around the world. The orchestra’s music director Osmo Vänskä, renowned internationally for his compelling interpretations, conducts “with an urgency and spontaneity that send shivers down one’s back” (Financial Times). Their program opens with the dramatic En Saga by Sibelius; The Guardian writes that Vänskä “conducts Sibelius better than anyone else alive.” Pianist Inon Barnatan, whose performance resonated powerfully with Krannert Center audiences in January 2017, joins the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s electrifying Piano Concerto No. 1, and the evening concludes with Beethoven’s irrepressible Symphony No. 7.
