Chicago Symphony Orchestra
With his Ninth Symphony, Shostakovich delivered a tragicomic work with nods to Haydn and circus tunes. Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov makes his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s thrilling First Piano Concerto. Mussorgsky’s radiant Khovanshchina prelude and Saariaho’s ethereal Winter Sky round out the program led by renowned Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu.
Kaija Saariaho: Ciel d'Hiver
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23
Modest Mussorgsky, orch. Rimsky-Korsakov: Prelude to Khovanshchina
Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 9 in E-flat Major, Op. 70
