Canceled: School Performance: Slingsby Theatre: Emil and the Detectives (KCYS)

On March 11, 2020, the University of Illinois communicated new guidelines for university operations, enacted to safeguard health during current COVID-19 conditions.

In accordance with these guidelines, all public performances at Krannert Center the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester are canceled as of Monday, March 16, 2020. If any performances become available by way of streaming or other technology, we will share that information as soon as possible. While this action is necessary and wise, we are of course deeply saddened not to be able to help create experiences of joy and community in person at this time.

The Youth Series staff will send out individual cancellation notices to all schools currently signed up to attend performances of Emil and the Detectives. Schools that have already paid for tickets will receive a refund. There are a few options for receiving refunds, which will be detailed in the individual cancellation notices.

Patrons are welcome to contact the Youth Series staff at 217.244.3009 or youth [at] krannertcenter.com with questions.

This performance is part of the Krannert Center Youth Series, school-day performances for public, private, and home schools, grades PreK-12.

Young Emil catches a train to visit family, but something valuable is stolen from him, and Emil ends up alone in the big city, lost and rather desperate. A group of quick-thinking and resourceful children rallies around, and the thief soon discovers Emil was not such an easy target. Can a bunch of kids work together to uncover and outsmart the criminal?

Emil and the Detectives is a journey about exploration and self-discovery, the value of friendships and taking risks, and the empowerment of young people.

Connects to Illinois Learning Standards in Fine Arts, Social/Emotional Learning, and Science.

Recommended for grades 3-6.
Performance length: 60 minutes
