Sam Green presents Trees
Written by Sam Green and Rebecca Solnit
Composed and performed by Sō Percussion
Produced by ArKtype and Josh Penn
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sam Green collaborates with National Book Critics Awardee and environmentalist Rebecca Solnit for the latest of his “live cinema” experiences. In Green’s work, documentary film meets live original music with Green’s own live narration. It’s “a singular experience, and a collective one, with the potential for human connection and human errors” notes The New York Times.
Trees is a profoundly moving study of humankind’s relationship to our earthly cohabitants, the silent witnesses to all of humanity across countless events and generations, putting humanity’s place into perspective. Directed and performed by Sam Green with cinematography by Yoni Brook, and featuring actress Judi Dench, poet laureate Ada Limón, scientists, and stories from around the world, Trees marks Green’s most ambitious film yet.
Trees is produced by ArKtype and Josh Penn and supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
