Stephan Crump: Slow Water

Acclaimed composer and bassist Stephan Crump presents an extraordinary musical work inspired by the movement to redefine how we live with water in an era of rapid change. Slow Water is a movement, an outgrowth of the book Water Always Wins by renowned science journalist and National Geographic explorer Erica Gies. Slow Water is also a sextet of New York artists-vibraphonist Patricia Brennan, violist Joanna Mattrey, violinist yuniya edi kwon, trumpeter Kenny Warren, trombonist Jacob Garchik, and bassist Crump leading the ensemble from within. Imagine music that is free from constraints or agendas; music that overflows with attention to its wondrous surroundings; music that is allowed to meander and take its time, trusting the collective's intent. Stephan Crump's poignant and immersive Slow Water does just that.

This special Earth Day Eve performance features an introduction by Erica Gies, whose book was a principal source of inspiration for this project.
