Sonic Illinois: Jupiter String Quartet with Todd Palmer, clarinet

The quartet-in-residence at the University of Illinois here joins the Sonic Illinois soundscape with clarinetist Todd Palmer. First heard at Krannert Center as an emerging artist on the Sunday Salon Series in 1993, the three-time Grammy-nominated Palmer has since appeared around the world as soloist, recitalist, chamber music collaborator, educator, arranger, and presenter, last visiting Krannert Center as a member of the Mark Morris Music Ensemble in the 2013-14 season. Together, they feature the work of Mozart and of "must-hear" Argentinian composer and MacArthur Fellow Osvaldo Golijov, including The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind, which Time Out New York calls an "epic distillation of Jewish musical culture from Hebrew chant to klezmer" and the Boston Globe describes as "spiritual and earthy: It is music of prayer, celebration, mysticism, and practicality."
