School Performance: The Composer's Tool Box (KCYS)
This performance is part of the Krannert Center Youth Series, weekday performances for public schools, private schools, and home school groups.
How do composers write music? What do they find in their “tool box” to help them compose? Join Maestro Stephen Alltop and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra for an engaging and interactive program that will allow students to become composers, making decisions about instrumental sounds and colors. Students will enjoy favorite movements from Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite and the Sicilienne by Gabriel Fauré.
The 2026 CUSO Youth Concerts are produced in partnership with Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, with funding from the CUSO Youth Music Appreciation Endowment Fund, the Meredith Foundation, Guild of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, the Robeson Family Benefit Fund, and the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
Recommended for grades 3–6.
