Savion Glover Featuring Marcus Gilmore
Tony Award-winning tap dancer Savion Glover is lauded as “the greatest tap virtuoso of our time, perhaps of all time” (Variety). He made his Broadway debut at age 10 in The Tap Dance Kid and at age 15 was one of the youngest performers ever to be nominated for a Tony. He enjoyed a regular stint on Sesame Street; choreographed and starred in the Broadway phenomenon Bring in ’Da Noise, Bring in ’Da Funk; through motion capture became the dancing feet of a charming little penguin in the film Happy Feet—and continues to amaze audiences worldwide. Joining Glover for this supreme meeting of rhythm masters, Marcus Gilmore is an heir to jazz royalty as grandson of the heralded drummer Roy Haynes. He has earned his own acclaim for influential work with Ravi Coltrane, Chick Corea, Nicholas Payton, and as a third of the highly awarded Vijay Iyer Trio. Together, this duo connects the past and present of tap and jazz to create an evening of awe-inspiring percussive fireworks.
