Michael Yeung, percussion

Dubbed “one of today’s most exciting young percussionists to watch” (interlude.hk) and winner of the 2023 Susan Wadsworth Young Concert Artist International Auditions, Michael Yeung’s mesmerizing artistry has led to appearances as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral percussionist with a worldwide career spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia. Michael credits his formative years at the Hong Kong Percussion Center—“a sort of Percussive Disneyland” where he could “play” with all manner of percussion instruments—as treasured time that sparked his musical career. Only the second percussionist ever to be admitted to Yale University’s prestigious Artist Diploma Program, a highly selective program for exceptionally gifted musicians on the cusp of an international career, Michael’s solo recitals mix transcriptions from the canon of classical music and original contemporary compositions to provide an authentic overview of his percussion array.
