Mark Morris Dance Group and Music Ensemble

Krannert Center’s annual visit by the Mark Morris Dance Group features a new, family-friendly dance and music production staged and choreographed by Mark Morris. The joyful, all-ages Holidayland celebrates the richness and diversity of communal traditions across cultures and seasons. The story, written by bestselling Goosebumps author R.L. Stein, finds two siblings encountering a magic village that bursts into light, music, and celebration one day each year, remaining cloaked in darkness the rest of the year. As the celebration fades and shadows return, the siblings emerge transformed, holding fast to the beauty, mystery, and delight of what they witnessed. Morris’s exceptional creative team includes acclaimed composer Nico Muhly, Obie Award-winning scenic designer Allen Moyer, longtime costume collaborator Elizabeth Kurtzman, and lighting designer Mike Faba, with MMDG Music Director Colin Fowler leading the six-piece ensemble that integrates all components of the production.
