This is the fastest house-building project you’ve ever seen! In theatre-maker Geoff Sobelle’s HOME, a house appears on stage from nothing. Residents move in, move out, get evicted, burn it down, loot it, rent it, remodel it, get married and divorced in it, grow up in it, die in it, haunt it. And then they throw a party—as if everyone who ever lived there could cohabitate, transcending the logic of time and space in a dizzying, heartfelt expression of life, living together, and the humanity of making a house a home. HOME combines dance, illusion, live music, homespun engineering, and inventive audience interaction to compose a work that awakens its viewers to housing dilemmas both local and global while asking, “Where is home?”
