Dessert and Conversation: Mr. Burns, a post-electric play
By Anne Washburn

Go behind the scenes with a pre-show conversation.
Around a campfire after the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors piece together the plot of The Simpsons episode "Cape Feare," itself a parody of a classic film. Time passes, and the retelling of the episode transforms into ritualized reenactment. Masks, music, and dance combine to elevate the banal to the sublime. Mr. Burns is an "animated" exploration of the ways that pop culture in one era might evolve into the mythology of another.
