Cleveland Quartet Award Winner: Rolston String Quartet
The 2016 First Prize winner of the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition and the winner of Chamber Music America’s 2018 Cleveland Quartet Award, the Rolston String Quartet was named among the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s 2016 “30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30.” The Grand Prize winner of the Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition, the quartet also received prizes at the M-Prize and Bordeaux international chamber competitions. They recently completed a residency at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and currently serve as the Yale School of Music’s fellowship quartet-in-residence.

Beethoven: String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major, Op. 130
The Rolston String Quartet’s performance is made possible with funding provided by the Cleveland Quartet Award Endowment Fund. Upon their retirement in 1995, members of the acclaimed Cleveland Quartet envisioned a lasting legacy for young chamber musicians and joined forces with Chamber Music America and eight chamber music presenters—including Krannert Center—to create this prestigious award.
Salon-style performances offer a close connection between artists and guests, as audience members sit in six rows of seats on stage with the performer. Light refreshments are served before and after the performance. Balcony tickets (without refreshments) are also available.
Guests are invited to join Krannert Center in helping children stay warm this winter. Bring new or gently used coats, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, and ear muffs for this season's clothing drive. This year, there is a special need for coats for middle school boys in sizes Boy's XL and Men's S, M, and L. All collected items will go to the Champaign Unit 4 School District and Urbana School District 116. Donation boxes will be available in the lobby near Intermezzo cafe.
