Naumburg 2015 Cello Competition Winner: Lev Sivkov, cello
János Palojtay, piano
When forming his Naumburg Foundation in 1926, Walter W. Naumburg envisioned a contest in which young artists would be singled out as shapers of a musical future of the highest caliber. 90 years on, the resulting program of competitions and awards in solo and chamber music performance has been described by The New York Times as "in its quiet way, the most prestigious of them all." 2015's Naumburg International Cello Competition winner is Russian cellist Lev Sivkov, a native of Novosibirsk who currently studies with Jean-Guihen Queyras at the Music Academy in Freiburg, Germany.
This performance will run approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, and includes a 20-minute intermission.
