Sávila

Sávila is a medicinal plant that grows wild in tropical climates all over the world, as well as the name of the cumbia/Latin/world/R&B-inspired ensemble of guitarist Fabi Reyna, vocalist Brisa Gonzalez, and percussionist Papi Fimbres. English and Spanish vocals mix in the hypnotizing music of this trio that was recently named one of the Portland, Oregon, area’s best new bands. Their otherworldly blend has been compared to “a warm embrace . . . everything melds into a groove so deep, you can’t help but sink in, too” (Willamette Week).

Also, hear a free panel discussion about gender and genre in the music industry, Guitar as a Creative, Political, and Emotional Tool, led by Sávila guitarist Fabi Reyna on Friday, September 6, at 1:30pm.
