Blind Boys of Alabama present Songs in the Key of Life
The story of the Blind Boys of Alabama—which began rooted in gospel music in 1939—intersects with pivotal moments and issues in American history and is an ideal prism through which to trace music, culture, history, and race in America. It also has a strong and inspiring faith component, a commitment that has taken the Blind Boys to Broadway co-starring alongside a young Morgan Freeman in The Gospel at Colonus, on world tours, and to performances at the White House for three presidents. Recognized worldwide as living legends of gospel music, celebrated by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Recording Academy/Grammys with Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and winners of six Grammy Awards, the Blind Boys of Alabama have attained the highest levels of achievement with their thrilling vocal harmonies and roof-raising live shows. “Their thundering harmonic power moves soul and spirit.” (Taj Mahal)
