Pygmalion Afterglow: Marathon and Motes

Join us after a performance of Iago's Plot at Stage 5 for an afterglow concert by Marathon, followed by Motes at approximately 10:45pm.

Marathon offers ambient music delivered via psychedelic tones and inspired by minimalism. Sprawling harmonies hover over the line between composition and improvisation, allowing performer and listener to acknowledge the movement together. Marathon is intended to subdue the commotion of everyday life and provide moments of salvation from it. Members: Brandon Tagonism, Luke Bergkoetter, Keith McKenney, Constantin Roman, and Kevinly Cline

In the traditions of post-punk and dreampop, Motes' guitars are rhythmic and noisy, and their melodies are hushed and frail. The group is decidedly Midwestern, though, in their exploration of emotion through imagery and exposition. Their poetry has a kind of existential clarity; sometimes, through layers and modulation, Motes gets messy, but never misses the mark. Members: Matt Cohn (drums), Elizabeth Majerus (bass/gtr/vocals), and Matt Mitchell (gtr/bs/vocals)

This performance will last approximately one hour and 45 minutes, and includes a 20-minute intermission.
