Krannert Center Uncorked: Mariachi Libertad

Champaign-Urbana's own hometown Mariachi group takes Krannert Center's Stage 5 for Krannert Center Uncorked! This ensemble presents the musical and cultural heritage of Mexico, with its roots going back as far as the 1700s. Influenced by polkas and waltzes, the music evolved in the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2011, UNESCO recognized mariachi as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mexico.
