Krannert Center Debut Artist

Beautifully embodying the nature of Krannert Center as a collaborative laboratory, classroom, and public square, the Krannert Center Debut Artist Award has been nurturing talent in our community for over 40 years. Each January, the School of Music and Krannert Center choose a student through audition for a professional contract and recital date as part of the Sunday Salon Series. Winners work with members of Krannert Center’s staff and School of Music faculty to plan, present, promote, and document their recital, and audience members enjoy the opportunity to hear a rising University of Illinois performer. The national impact of the award on the field of music is clear, with its winners since the very first in 1984 remaining active performers and educators.
