Jupiter String Quartet and Jasper Quartet with Michael Cameron, bass

Jasper Quartet
Michael Cameron, bass

Quartet-in-residence at the University of Illinois, the Jupiter String Quartet “has matured into one of the mainstays of the American chambermusic scene” (New Yorker). To open the Classical Mix Series, the Jupiter has invited Jasper Quartet and Michael Cameron to join this “quartet-plus” showcase, which includes Felix Mendelssohn’s brilliant Octet in E-flat Major. Of the Jasper String Quartet—winner of Chamber Music America’s prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award—the New Haven Advocate writes, “The Jaspers . . . match their sounds perfectly, as if each swelling chord were coming out of a single, impossibly well-tuned organ, instead of four distinct instruments.”

Brahms: String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat Major, Op. 18
Golijov: Last Round (nonet)
Mendelssohn: Octet for Strings in E-flat Major, Op. 20
