Illinois Modern Ensemble

The Illinois Modern Ensemble focuses on contemporary and experimental music. This performance will feature works by Tania León, Ivette Herryman-Rodriguez, and Odaline de la Martinez.

This performance will last approximately 56 minutes with no intermission.

PRE-CONCERT MILLERCOMM LECTURE AT 6:15PM

The School of Music is hosting a MillerComm lecture with the Center for Advanced Study entitled, A Composer's Voice in the Cuban Diaspora. Cuban-American composer Tania León will discuss her experiences as a composer and ambassador for the arts. She helped found the Dance Theatre of Harlem and has an opera-in-progress called, The Little Rock Nine. The opera's libretto is by Thulani Davis and the historical research was conducted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
