Krannert Uncorked with New Budapest Orpheum Society
Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
At Krannert Uncorked, Stage 5 is the crossroads to gather, make connections, and try a new wine. In collaboration with the Center for Advanced Study, the New Budapest Orpheum Society will present Making Sacred All the Whispers of the World. The eight-member ensemble from the University of Chicago juxtaposes songs unearthed from concentration camps and ghettos of World War II. With popular and political songs from the cabaret stage and Jewish cinema, this group commemorates one of the most powerful moments of modern music history.

Join Philip Bohlman, artistic director of the New Budapest Orpheum Society, in a free pre-performance lecture entitled “Some for Laughs, Some for Tears.” The professor from the University of Chicago will offer historical insights before the performance at Stage 5 in the Lobby.
