Uncorked: Jean-René Balekita

Join us Thursday, April 9th at 5:30pm for Krannert Center Uncorked as we help to kick off the 2026 Boneyard Arts Festival with a special performance by Jene-René Balekita!

Focusing on music from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, guitarist and kora player Jean-René Balekita brings his blend of uplifting and energetic music to Krannert Center! Balekita has toured extensively in Europe and the US with the band Bomoyi, performing his original compositions based on a blend of Congolese Rumba and Gospel styles. Enjoy this high-energy sextet that will get you dancing while delivering a positive message all will appreciate.

The Boneyard Arts Festival is a four-day event showcasing the broad range of creative activity flourishing in our community. The Festival aims to bring together local artists, businesses and organization and showcase local artists in over 90 venues throughout Champaign County.
