The Nutcracker
Tchaikovsky’s perennial holiday classic The Nutcracker at Krannert Center is one of Champaign-Urbana’s major holiday traditions. The Nutcracker features company dancers from CU Ballet, along with scores of children from the community. This local production produced with professional quality is the magical story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince, who are led through an enchanted dream by Clara’s godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer. From the exciting battle of mice and soldiers to the magnificent scenes of snow and sweets, this entertaining ballet will captivate the imagination of audiences both young and young-at-heart.
