Zakir Hussain with Rahul Sharma
The pre-eminent classical tabla virtuoso of our time, Zakir Hussain is appreciated both in the field of percussion and in the music world at large as an international phenomenon and one of the world’s most esteemed and influential musicians. He was the foremost disciple of his father, the legendary Ustad Alla Raha, and has performed with countless musicians across multiple genres, including John McLaughlin (Shakti) and the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart (Planet Drum).
Hussain will share the stage with longtime collaborator Rahul Sharma. Sharma is the son of legendary Indian musician and composer Shivkumar Sharma, who taught Rahul the 100-stringed santoor. He has released over 60 recordings and is a highly sought-after performer for concerts, studio work, and Bollywood films.
This duet performance of Indian classical music will be extraordinary.
