School Performance: Imani Winds and Boston Brass (KCYS)

This performance is part of the Krannert Center Youth Series, school-day performances for public, private, and home school groups.

For over a quarter century Imani Winds and Boston Brass, two powerhouse ensembles and champions of new music, have been leaders in the world of wind chamber music. The twice Grammy nominated Imani Winds has led both a revolution and evolution of the wind quintet through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, imaginative collaborations and outreach endeavors that have inspired audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Since 1986 Boston Brass has set out to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience, featuring colorful classical arrangements, burning jazz standards, and the best of original brass repertoire. Boston Brass treats audiences to a unique brand of musical entertainment that bridges the ocean of classical formality to delight regular concertgoers and newcomers alike with great music and boisterous fun. For this Youth Series performance this supergroup will introduce students to a wide range of musical styles in an interactive format, and share insights about the instruments they play.
