Krannert Uncorked with The Duke of Elvintones and Afro LTA

At Krannert Uncorked, Stage 5 is the crossroads to gather, make connections, and try a new wine. This summer, enjoy three Uncorked events that will feature local musical artists in dual sessions from 5pm to 7pm and 7pm to 9pm on the evenings of July 14, 21, and 28. Please note that Krannert Center's north elevator (Illinois Street side) is out of service for the summer. The south elevator (Oregon Street side) is available.

At 5pm, The Duke of Elvintones, a four-piece jazz band comprised of Illinois, Florida, and Bolivia jazz performers, will offer energetic and refreshing hard bop jazz with Carlos Vega (Florida) on saxophone, Emma Taylor (Illinois) on acoustic bass, Jim Pryor (Illinois) on piano, and Mateo Sanchez (Bolivia) on drums/director. The band will perform not only standards, but also compositions of Mateo Sanchez and Carlos Vega.

Then, at 7pm, Afro LTA will keep you moving to the rhythm with their Latin-American music with African roots as well as Latin-American folk-urban music that has a strong percussion influence. Personnel include David McEathron, piano, Reginald Lewis, saxophone, Mitchell Maftean, bass, and director/creator Mateo Sanchez, percussion and voice.
