A Young Person's Guide

Drawing from the talent of young people in the Champaign-Urbana area, Sinfonia again opens its concert season by featuring the high school and college winners of its 2017 Student Concerto Competition. Stella Faux, winner of the Youth Division will be performing a movement from Kabalevsky's Violin Concerto in C Major. Chia-Ying Chan and Hana Lim, winners of the Open Division, will be performing movements from Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 respectively. Rounding out the youthful program are the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 by Edvard Grieg and The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten. Be sure to stick around after the performance to enjoy pizza provided by the Flying Tomato Brothers of Garcia’s Pizza in a Pan!
