Philharmonia presents works from the musically rich Muqam tradition of Central Asia, featuring a North American premier of a work by Uyghur composer Nusrat Wajiding entitled Homeland. The theme of “homeland” carries into the second half, with three further musical portrayals of the intersecting relationships between location, music, and identity.

Borodin: In the Steppes of Central Asia

Wajiding: Homeland (North American premiere)

Dai: Dancing Moonlight

Smetana: The Moldau

Tchaikovsky: Finale from Symphony No. 2 (Ukrainian)
