Tango Buenos Aires: The Spirit of Argentina
The dancers and musicians of Tango Buenos Aires weave their tango spell with “swirling, fast-paced tapestries of movement, laced with proud postures and sensual couplings” (The Washington Post). What began as an 1890s Argentinean dance hall craze has circled the world gathering sonic and stylistic influences while staying true to its heritage as a dramatic, at times playful, and always audacious expression. In this dazzling new program, the company pays tribute to Carlos Gardel, known as “the King of Tango,” a legendary singer, songwriter, composer, and actor in the tango scene at the turn of the 20th century.
