Nidia Góngora
Nidia Góngora, celebrated as "The Guardian of Tradition," is the most recognized voice of Colombia's Pacific coast. A Latin Grammy nominee and Shock Award winner, she has spent over 20 years blending the traditional sounds of her hometown Timbiquí with global music genres. As founder and lead vocalist of Canalón de Timbiquí, Góngora has won top honors at the Petronio Álvarez Festival, including Best Vocal Performance and Best Marimba Ensemble. A passionate educator and researcher, she carries the musical legacy of her family and community, preserving ancestral sounds while exploring bold new collaborations with artists such as Quantic, Bomba Estéreo, and Ondatrópica. With a voice heard across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., Góngora contiues to inspire and elevate Afro-Colombian traditions on the world stage.
