Every other year, Krannert Center produces ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival, the internationally recognized, three-day event described as “one of the world’s most forward-thinking guitar festivals” (Fretboard Journal). In a celebration of the guitar and its close relatives from around the globe, each ELLNORA gathers remarkable musicians and passionate audience members, and the result is magic.
The ninth biennial ELLNORA will take place in fall 2019, but you can get a taste of it now with this ELLNORA | Reverb concert featuring Brazilian guitarist Marcus Tardelli. From a very young age, Tardelli was profoundly interested in music and drawn particularly to orchestral works. The guitar, however, was the only instrument available to him, so he developed ways to play the orchestral harmonies he heard, ultimately creating a new school of guitar technique. From popular Brazilian music to the classical compositions that have influenced it, Tardelli performs with unsurpassed technical mastery and an unwavering devotion to expression.
