Krannert Center Uncorked in Partnership with C-U Folk & Roots Festival: Miguel Espinoza Fusion
The 2024 C-U Folk and Roots Festival kicks off on Krannert Center’s Stage 5 with Miguel Espinoza Fusion. featuring Miguel Espinoza, guitar; Dianne Betkowski, cello; Randy Hoepker, bass; and David Hinojosa, dumbek, cajon, percussion. The Denver-based quartet invites the listener into a rich and colorful symposium of world musical traditions; firm roots in flamenco, classical, and jazz are woven through with North African rhythms, Celtic whimsy, and Brazilian expressions for a sound that is transformative, vibrant, and deeply emotive.
For 16 years, the C-U Folk and Roots Festival has celebrated folk music, dance, arts, and crafts with an inclusive, community-oriented event featuring participants from a diverse range of backgrounds and beliefs. The festival’s mission is to promote the folk arts, contribute to the artistic vitality of the Champaign-Urbana area, and introduce community members to varied and exciting forms of artistic practice.
