Jonah Bokaer and Daniel Arsham: Rules Of The Game
Rules Of The Game brings together for the first time an amazing trio of master artists and master collaborators: Grammy-winning producer and singer Pharrell Williams (of “Happy” fame), visual artist Daniel Arsham, and dance visionary Jonah Bokaer. This work for eight dancers, with an original score by Williams and set in Arsham’s surreal, multimedia environment, is inspired by absurdist author Luigi Pirandello’s play Rules of the Game. Both the original play and this new embodiment, which is co-commissioned by Krannert Center, challenge the characters within to look beyond the confines of convention, while leading the audience to the essential quality of the avant-garde. The evening’s program also includes Why Patterns, featuring 10,000 ping-pong balls and the music of Morton Feldman, and the magical solo RECESS.
This performance will run approximately one hour and 44 minutes, and includes a 20-minute intermission.
