A violin superstar who has performed as soloist with every major orchestra and at venerable concert halls around the globe—including six performances at Krannert Center since 1974—Perlman also delights audiences through his appearances as a conductor and public speaker. Perlman has been recognized with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in the recording arts, a Kennedy Center Honor in celebration of his distinguished achievements and contributions to the cultural and educational life of the United States, and the United States’ highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, for his meritorious contributions to cultural endeavors and for being a powerful advocate for people with disabilities.
Pianist Rohan De Silva has partnered with Itzhak Perlman in recitals worldwide. Of their collaboration, The Seattle Times wrote, “The partnership between the two musicians is as though they breathe together. Rarely does one hear such perfect synchronization of phrasing and expression.”
