The Hot Sardines
It’s hard to believe, but “the charismatic front-runners of vintage jazz” first got their start with a jam session found on Craigslist (The Guardian). It didn’t take long for French frontwoman-from-another-era “Miz Elizabeth” Bougerol and stride piano player Evan “Bibs” Palazzo to realize their mutual love of music from the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s could manifest into a hot jazz phenomenon. In 2014, Krannert Center audiences fell hard for the Hot Sardines’ blazing brass lineup, tap-dancing rhythm section (yes, really), and irresistible swagger. Don’t miss your chance to see the speakeasy sensation The Music Playground hails as “the most foot-stomping, raucous jazz band in the world.”
