February 2017
Krannert Center is pleased to welcome the United States Navy Concert Band from Washington D.C. for a free performance in Foellinger Great Hall on Monday, April 3 at 7:30pm. The Concert Band is the United States Navy’s premier wind ensemble. This group includes 56 performers on flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, horn, euphonium, trombone, tuba, string bass, harp, and percussion.
The band’s repertoire features a lively and patriotic mix of marches, symphonic selections, and popular favorites. The band is connected locally though Concert Band conductor Captain Kenneth C. Collins, who holds a Master of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The university’s Naval ROTC program will provide a color guard at the start of the program, and cadets from all three ROTC branches at the university will attend in uniform.
