Love and obsession. Deception and decadence. And an unrelenting quest for power, whatever the cost. The themes and the ravishing music of this Baroque work create stunning reverberations in today's world. This cutting-edge production, featuring a projection-rich visual surround and a contemporary musical arrangement by Lyric Theatre @ Illinois' Michael Tilley and Julie Gunn, is directed by Madeline Sayet, a recipient of The White House Champion of Change Award for her work as a director, writer, performer, and educator. Sayet is a 2016 TED Fellow, the Resident Director at Amerinda (American Indian Artists) Inc., a Van Lier Directing Fellow at Second Stage Theatre, and a National Arts Strategies' Creative Community Fellow.
