Studiodance I: Dancing 50: Moving Forward/Looking Back
In Program A, Master of Fine Arts candidate Charlie Maybee will present his contemporary explorations of the genre of tap dance. The program will include Dance at Illinois alumni Isiah Asplund (BFA 2017), Lauren Mendelson (BFA 2018), Alexis Miller (BFA 2018), Randi Townsend (BFA 2017) and Illinois alumus Jon Faw (2017 MEDIA).
Program B will feature works created by Dance at Illinois faculty in conjunction with alumni. Professor Sara Hook will bring back alumi Betsy Brandt (MFA 2012), Randi Townsend (BFA 2017), Kendra Portier (MFA 2018), and Chole Nagle (2018) to continue explorations of her work, Janes. Professor Tere O’Connor will set the duet Double Flower Possibility on Nico Brown (2014) and Charles Gowin (2016). Alumnus Momar Ndiaye (MFA 2017) will create a new solo for Professor Abigail Zbikowski, and guest artist Nia Love will perform a signature multi-media solo.
