Sonic Illinois: UI Symphony Orchestra

We are sorry to announce that Rachel Barton Pine, the invited guest violinist for this concert, is unexpectedly unable to travel to Champaign-Urbana for this performance. We hope that she will share the stage with the UI Symphony Orchestra on a future date. Ms. Pine's pre-performance lecture originally scheduled for 2pm has been canceled.

The premier orchestra at the University of Illinois will perform a variety of pieces conducted by Donald Schleicher.

Sonic Illinois

Through Sonic Illinois, Krannert Center and the School of Music collaboratively explore the tremendous diversity of today’s vital contemporary music scene—a revival of the spirit of the University of Illinois Festival of Contemporary Arts, which was a major cultural force in the mid-20th century. Sonic Illinois, a month-long celebration of new music, honors innovative creators who challenge convention, forge pathways, and expand the creative process.
