The Illinois Modern Ensemble focuses on contemporary and experimental music. Concerts feature compositions by prominent artists as well as new works by students and faculty members.
This evening’s program will include Symphony No. 4 by Galina Ulstvoskaya in celebration of the 100th anniversary of her birth, as well as new music by Guido Sanchez-Portuguez, Carolyn Borcherding, Stephen Caldwell, Barry T. Chiang, and Cody Paul. The performance will be followed by a special, post-concert party celebrating the 50th anniversary of HPSCHD by John Cage and Lejaren Hiller, featuring the performers who premiered the work at the University of Illinois. This will be something to remember!
This performance will last approximately one hour with no intermission.
