February Dance Virtual Performance
February Dance 2025 celebrates the fierce commitment to artistic innovation in the Department of Dance. A brand-new work from Associate Professor Paige Cunningham Calderella and MFA alumna Anna Peretz Rogovoy (’24) features challenging partnering techniques within a contemporary “sneaker” ballet. Professor Rebecca Nettl-Fiol offers a premiere set to the music of Grammy Award-winner Osvaldo Golijov, performed live by soprano Elena Negruta and the Illinois Modern Ensemble. Two MFA thesis works by Gabriel Bruno Eng Gonzalez and Banafsheh Amiri investigate the collision of contemporary dance, media, and world politics as fertile ground for choreographic invention.
This performance will be livestreamed on January 29, 2025, at 7:30pm
February Dance 2025 will also be performed for in-person audiences January 30-February 1 in Krannert Center's Colwell Playhouse. More information and tickets are available here.
