Allerton Music Barn Festival | Stefan Milenkovich will be featured on Bach’s Sonata No. 1 in G Minor for Solo Violin, BWV 101 to begin this morning celebration, and two cantatas that reflect the operatic style considered modern at the time will follow. Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!, BWV 51 is fiery and jubilant. The most popular of Bach's solo cantatas, it is scored for trumpet, two violins, viola, and continuo. From its famous aria—Öffne Dich, Mein Ganzes Herzen—to the opening chorus in French overture style, Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 61 is an outstanding example of Bach's mastery as a composer of cantatas.

The Reverend Roger Digges will deliver an ecumenical homily reflecting on the texts of the two cantatas.
