Foellinger Great Hall
Classical Mix Series | Bach. Chopin. Brahms. Vladimir Feltsman, chameleonic genius of the keyboard. The Pacifica Quartet, winners of a 2009 Grammy Award and Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year honor. Together for an exclusive experience, only at Krannert Center.
Known across the great music centers of the world as a sheer master pianist, Feltsman will follow his triumphant recital debut at Krannert Center two seasons ago by returning to the Great Hall stage, bringing to bear his virtuosic technique and capacity for exquisitely nuanced contemplation and robust exuberance on Bach’s crystalline Partita No. 1 in B-flat Major, BMV 825, and Chopin’s heroically lyrical and fiercely defiant Two Polonaises, Op. 26 before ending his solo performance with Chopin’s graceful Ballade No. 3 in A-flat Major, Op. 47.
He will then bring his love for chamber music into collaboration with the powerhouse Pacifica Quartet to render one of the great masterworks of the Romantic literature, Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F Minor. Violinists Simin Ganatra and Sibbi Bernhardsson, violist Masumi Per Rostad, and cellist Brandon Vamos have risen to the very top of their generation’s artistry, making the Pacific Quartet synonymous with intelligent, passionate spontaneity and flawless technical execution of even the most demanding scores. Keyboard enthusiasts and chamber music lovers alike will not want to miss this extraordinary moment of celebratory music-making.
