Have you recently taken a Krannert Center tour? We'd love your feedback. Please complete our Zoomerang Krannert Center Tour Evaluation.
Krannert Center is an extraordinary facility. Its four theatres, shops, rehearsal and classroom spaces, offices, and outdoor grounds occupy two square blocks. A tour of the facility offers a complete picture of the performance, educational, and professional activities that go on at Krannert Center, providing facts and figures about the building from conception through reality as well as bits of lore handed down since the Center's dedication in 1969.
Free tours are conducted daily at 3pm when classes are in session by members of the Krannert Center Student Association and Krannert Center staff. Special tours can always be arranged by calling 217/333-9716 at least two weeks in advance; tour availability may be subject to building activity.
Each tour of Krannert Center is a little bit different because of our often-changing activities. Tour highlights include detailed information on how the Foellinger Great Hall achieves its world-renowned acoustical properties; an up-close look at the scene, costume, and prop shops; visits to the magnificent rehearsal spaces and all theatres; and much more. Tour routes vary according to the schedule of performance and recording activities, classes that may be taking place, or special events that are in progress.
Summer 2007 tours will be offered from May 14 through August 2. There will be no tours on May 28, or July 4.
During the 2007 fall semester, tours will be offered from August 22 through December 7, with no tour on Labor Day (September 3) or during Thanksgiving break (November 17-25).
In 2008, spring semester tours will be offered from January 14 through May 3, with no tours during spring break (March 15-23).
